Perry County Convention & Visitors Bureau
Perry County is often compared to the scenic beauty of the Smoky
Mountains, or as did the early Swiss and German settlers, the Rhine
Valley. The rolling hills provide several breathtaking views along
historic Ohio River.
As an outdoor lover's paradise, Perry County is equipped with eight
boat ramps on the Ohio River, that provide access to thousands of
acres of water for boating and other outdoor sport activities. There
are several embayments off the river, which provide for great fishing
opportunities. Cabin rentals, RV hook ups, a marina, boat service,
and restaurant overlooking the Ohio River offer a perfect escape from
the ordinary.
Perry County is blessed with nearly 60,000 acres of the Hoosier
National Forest, where you will find numerous trails for hiking,
biking, and specific trails for horseback riding. Several lakes and
campgrounds provide great locations for fishing, swimming, and
camping. The Forest also provides some ideal locations for hunting
wild turkey and whitetail deer. Wildlife watchers will also enjoy
the scenery, perhaps catching a view of an eagle or blue heron.
Route 66, the Ohio River National Scenic Byway, provides some great
scenic views. Be sure to stop and visit the small towns, country
stores, and historical sites along the way. You will find Southern
Indiana hospitality at its finest.
