Nine Wineries with Holiday Spirits in the Uplands

SOUTHERN INDIANA-The Indiana Uplands Wine Trail (IUWT) will be hosting a new event - the "Spirits of Christmas" Weekend along the wine trail this holiday season. The nine wineries along the Uplands Wine Trail will be spreading Christmas spirit by offering wine tasting and complimentary traditional and old-fashioned holiday treats at each winery.

Comprised of nine wineries-Best Vineyards, Brown County, Oliver, Butler, Carousel, French Lick, Winzerwald, Turtle Run and Huber-the wine trail's new event will fill the weekend of December 10 & 11 with holiday sweets and offer a great opportunity to stock up on your favorite wines for holiday gatherings and gift-giving.

On the southern leg of the trail visit Best Vineyards who will be featuring variations of their grandmother's "Winnings" nut cookies and chocolate topped peanut butter cookies. At Winzerwald Winery warm up with traditional German springerle & almerle cookies and warm Gluhwein and steamed egg nog. Huber Winery will pair traditional holiday cookies and homemade fudge with select wines.

Enjoy complimentary tastes of wassail and gingerbread cake at French Lick Winery. Further north visit Butler Winery for mulled fruit wines including apple, blueberry and black currant to put you in the holiday spirit.

The event is free of charge and runs during each of the winery's normal operating hours. Pick up a Passport to the Wine Trail at the first winery and after visiting all nine, the last winery will present you with your set of two logo buffet plates per passport just in time for those holiday celebrations. Each participant that completes the passport will also be entered into a grand prize drawing which will be held at the 2012 Vintage Indiana Wine Festival in Indianapolis in June.
